The Porsche 911 GT3 has proven a popular supercar/ sportscar/whatever, amongst supercar owners. Described as a fitting evolution in a series of driver's cars, the excitement and well fulfilled anticipation was met with a evolved but modern design.
Of course the anticipation for the RS model is sky high and by the looks of the spy pics, it does not disappoint!
As with the launch of the original GT3, Porsche are prone to including design elements not intended for the final version. You'll remember the rear wing on the GT3 spy pics was an exaggerated version of the final release to the public, so this may be subject to amendments.
The front bonnet has been redesigned with two aggressive vents, suiting the job spec of a more raw, stripped out, powerful version of the GT3. The front bumper remains largely unchanged with the side canards the only amendment, adding width and a more staunch stance to the front.
Unnoticed from the front, the rear exposes added vents on the front quarter, angular in design with the intention to add aggression to the view.
The rear bumper is mostly lifted from the GT3, however in similar fashion to the front bumper, the changes introduce upwards facing side canards flush behind the rear wheels. These canards expose the extra width over the 'regular' GT3 with a wider rear profile.
The rear wing has always been a feature of the GT3 and the 992 was no different with a controversial change in the wing stands, now positioned further up the rear. The RS does not disappoint in being extravagant, the 991.2 GT3 RS wing is tall, with thin struts and a span that matches the wide stance of the rear.
The 992 wing is no doubt worthy of an RS GT3. The angled profile below shows off the resemblance this wing holds to a Group GT3 race car being overblown and supersized with the function from the added downforce justifying its dimensions.
As with all spy shots, there may be adjustments to the production edition but there's no doubting, the new GT3 RS is set to turn heads like no other and we for one cannot wait for the final release.
