The New Lamborghini Huracan STO!

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

2020 has been a weird year, global pandemic, financial crisis, lockdowns and yet there has been no shortage of supercar releases. Maserati brought us the MC20, Ferrari the SF90 Spider, Bugatti the Bolide and so not to be left behind Lamborghini have premiered the new Huracan STO.

Super Trofeo Omologata. In plain words race car for the road. The STO is the most track focused, race orientated Huracan released to date. The Performante is a well tuned supercar, with additional power, fantastic ability on the road and that extra "crazy" factor fans wanted to see in the stock Huracan.

But the STO is one step further, if the Performante was a track focused road car, the STO is a race car for the road. Heavily utilising technology from the Huracan GT3 race cars and the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo this car is even lighter than the Performante (43kg weight saving) with much emphasis placed on steering and agility on the track. All 640hp is now driven through the rear wheels!

From a styling perspective the STO is furnished with a new front bumper as the front splitter is designed to maximise downforce. The new look gives a mouth like composition and shows the intention this car has for the road and track. Lamborghini have put a significant amount of R&D and focus towards aerodynamics with the body shape and design of the STO geared towards increasing downforce and managing air flow around the car.

The rear bumper and diffuser form a similar pattern to the current Huracan Evo and Performante with the STO sporting a slight change in the rear diffuser. The real stand out feature is the rear wing which is again formed with the intention of downforce and optimal airflow.

A big, loud rear wing is exactly what we expect from Lamborghini!

There are numerous changes on the new Huracan with upgraded suspension, brakes, a rear wheel drive system and new drive modes which all work together to make this a petrolhead's dream.

At the The Crbn Fbre Comp, this is indeed a winner. The designs look great and the form to match function works from an aesthetics point of view.

Lamborghini have delivered just what we would expect, a loud, aggressive, wall poster, big engine monster to get us excited again. And all before the automotive world is taken over by silent cars and battery power....
