Here we are again and this week we visit a new car, a supercar, designed and purposed to bring Maserati back into the conversation with the likes of Lamborghini, Ferrari and Mclaren.
The last thoroughbred supercar/hypercar that Maserati released was the MC12, a track monster and essentially Maserati's version of the Ferrari Enzo, which when you look hard enough, quite closely resembles the Enzo. But hence I digress...
The MC20, recently removed from the covers with Maserati's flamboyant online release is now available for dreamers to play around with online, needless to say, I obliged.
To start off with, as the MC20 has only just been released it's clear to see that there isn't a huge amount of variety available in terms of colour options and specs. Whether this is purposely done or because its still early in its life, is to be seen.
The MC20 certainly looks the part, screams bonafide supercar and 640hp from a 3.0l V6 backs that up. From the minimal list of colour options, I have plumped for the Grigio Mistero paint option, sporting this shiny silver/grey look which really brings out the lines of the car.
There are a number of interesting options that you can spec on the MC20 and I have gone with the exterior carbon fibre pack which includes carbon fibre front splitter, rear diffuser, door, side skirts and a carbon fibre bonnet. On top of this I have spec'd the roof and engine cover in carbon before including a perfectly sized carbon rear spoiler.
Scissor doors look magical...
20" Birdcage gloss black diamond cut wheels with a silver accent added are a perfect match for the paintwork and really stand out on this car. So far there are 4 alloy wheel options and all, I have to say, are a good look on this car.
The interior is spec'd with an additional carbon pack adding carbon to the door sills and gear shift paddles. The heated seats are spec'd with Nero / blue cielo with a stripped design present from the bottom to the top.
The MC20 is a beautiful car and the specs available really make that clear, the design was always spectacular and continues the trend of good looking, Italian supercars.
The Maserati Gran Turismo which seems to have been around forever is a sight to behold but the argument against it was that it wasn't a true supercar.
The same cannot be said about the MC20 and we are all looking forward to seeing these in the flesh and hitting a street or track near you.
