In today's edition of the Configurator Series, we look at the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, the track version of the 488 and the successor to the 458 Speciale.
To kick off, Ferrari's configurator is quite a straight forward, progressive system guiding you through the process in a clear way with all options listed to the left of your screen and the spec sections at the top.
Just like with Lamborghini there are a few must have colours that Ferrari fan boys will say have to be picked for resale value and this time I have taken the bait. This Fezza was always going to be spec'd in some kind of Ferrari red and Rosso Scuderia is the colour for today.
The stripe and the front scoop built into the bonnet are for me, the key design changes compared with the standard 488 and go a long way to making this car look more aggressive and more sporty. So the go faster stripes get to stay!
There is a whole range of stripes that can be chosen, both in colour and in pattern and I have gone for a Nero Daytona stripe, thick in the middle, split at the sides with the Rosso Scuderia paintwork, running across the roof from the base of the spoiler to the front bumper. The stripe looks fantastic and continues the theme from the 458 Speciale, which for me is a must have for the Pista.
20" Forged Gold Wheels replacing the standard alloys with Rosso Corsa coloured brake callipers. It has to be said that the set of alloys offered across the range are stunning but a gold contrast to the paintwork really stands out, enough to overcome any desire to black out the wheels!
The exhaust tips and pipes chosen were Titanium and give a slight contrast to the jet black rear diffuser. Here we have not chosen to spec the Carbon exterior pack on this car, which is a shock for us at The Crbn Fbre Comp, however we feel that with the paintwork and the wheels, the carbon wouldn't really stand out on this one.
Simple interiors are always what I seem to go for, I have selected an Alcantara Nero base with a Rosso Ferrari stripe running through the middle. The seats are the standard carbon racing seats, with the Daytona racing seats another option.
The dash again is simple but there are a few nice little touches that can be spec'd when picking what your cabin will look like. I have gone for the yellow rev counter and have kept the carbon fibre standard with the matte carbon option available for those that are interested.
Of course floor matts have been spec'd as well!
So here you have it, my Ferrari 488 Pista Spider in Rosso Corsa with a Nero Daytona stripe and Forged Gold 20" wheels. As always let us know your thoughts, what you would have done differently and have a go yourself spec'ing your dream Ferrari!
