With the year nearing an end and COVID still running rife, a little pick me up ahead of the Christmas and New Year's "Celebrations" is definitely needed.
And in the world of The Crbn Fbre Comp that means another edition of us daydreaming on Configurators and imagining what our garage could look like in 10 years time.....hopefully!
Being an 8 series geek, and a lover of the original design, the new 8 series successor, does not disappoint in the looks department and so in today's edition we look at what options BMW has when building the top of the range BMW M8 Gran Coupe.
Thinking back to the 2016 Geneva Motor Show where the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe was first brought to my eyes, I instantly wanted to replicate the stunning dark green paintwork the car was introduced to the world in.
It was at this stand in Geneva when I really decided that, one day, I will build a dream garage with an M8 Gran Coupe sat next to my E31 840ci!
Unfortunately that shining dark green was not a paint option in the configurator, with the paintwork being saved for the M8 Gran Coupe first edition and so this led to the next best option, as my M8 is styled in this amazing Ara Blue finish.
Black wheels are the 'flex' at the moment but with the dark paintwork and the carbon styling already in place I have gone for the 20" Bicolour Star spoke wheels which suit perfectly with enough complexity in the design to make it feel special.
One of the key parts I always look for are the options on any styling packs and true to form BMW have made available an M Carbon Exterior Package engrossing the rear diffuser, mirror caps and rear spoiler in carbon fibre and of course enhancing the look of the M8 Gran Coupe.
The Carbon Fibre rear spoiler takes similar cues from the M4 rear spoiler with a PSM style design used. The rear diffuser is where the magic really happens as the carbon outlining around the exhaust tips gives a bulky but strong look and matches the aggression the car is trying to convey.
After the beauty of the exterior you'll be accustomed to my lack of real interest in supercar and sports car interiors on this series but with a 4 door gran coupe and the luxury of 4 seats, I've taken a different view on the M8 and have gone for Midrand Beige Full Merino Leather. The lighter but unique interior helps to make this a special place to be in, contrasting against the dark carbon and with a two tone style breaking up any monotony in the interior.
Carbon fibre trim has obviously been selected and finishes off a fantastic top of the range gran coupe. The M8 is one of those cars that blurs the lines between what you would expect from a saloon/coupe/supercar. 625hp is more than a standard Huracan, in fact it's supercar range but with 4 doors, 4 seats and the comfort of a Ford Mondeo.
The M8 Gran Coupe is an amazing flagship car for the M range and despite the lack of an extensive range of paintwork and spec options, this is definitely a head turner.
The M8 Gran Coupe is the kind of car your kids can't wait for you to turn up to the school gates in!
