The Configurator Series: Audi R8 V10 Performance

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

We love this series because it keeps us dreaming and pushing towards that "one day" when you're driving away in the car you always hoped for.

Back in the day there were arguments about whether this was a supercar or a sports car but with 610 bhp, 580 Nm of torque and a 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds, anyone contesting its supercar credentials has definitely lost the plot.

Running through the Audi configurator it must be said, there are a lot of options and at times the system can get a bit confusing but bare with us as we managed to build a car that looks fantastic.

The first real hurdle after choosing between a coupe or a convertible is to select the trim options, ranging from the RWD series, the standard coupe, the performance pack and the performance carbon black pack.

Initially I plumped for the carbon black pack with many of the R8's designs subsequently covered in carbon and gloss black. However, halfway through the build, I started again. The carbon black pack has too much carbon, if that is even a thing, and makes a difficult job of choosing the right paintwork to match.

Going back to the drawing board, the V10 Performance pack adds some great options to the R8 with the rear carbon spoiler the biggest highlight alongside the unique 20" 5 spoke wheels in a matt titanium, diamond cut finish. The V10 Performance pack adds those subtle changes but still gives you some freedom to mould this R8 to your fancy.

But if you are looking for that all black everything look, the carbon black pack is your dreamland.

The paintwork is ara blue, displaying a crystal effect with the side blades painted in a metallic, mythos black. The alloys, in matt titanium, give off a swirl like design without looking too round and match the matt titanium side skirts, front lip and wing mirrors, which in the Carbon Black pack, are all in Carbon Fibre.

Much of the V10 Performance pack picks the options for you and aside from a few changes to suit your preferences, the R8 V10 Performance is a great looking, powerful supercar that sits deservedly alongside the Huracan's, 488s and 570s' of this world and not just because of the power.

The sports seats are a no cost option at this trim level, adorned with red 'fine napper leather', subtle stitching in the lining of the seats and door cards quilted with the same material. Heated, electric seats are again a no cost option at this trim level and I believe the red interior shows off a great contrast to the paintwork without looking out of place.

So there we are, our very own Audi R8 V10 Performance built using the Audi configurator, let us know your thoughts on this build, do you agree with the spec chosen and what would you do differently?

Out of all our configurators the Aventador S is definitely top of the tree in my opinion but what do you think?

Let us know in the comments section, we'd love to hear your opinions and stay tuned for more from The Crbn Fbre Comp!
