The Configurator Series: Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

In this week's edition we look at the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, a super GT by today's standards and the flagship model in the current Aston line up.

The DBS Superleggera is in a long line of very good looking Aston Martin cars. Aston have a innate ability to create of the most beautiful, luxurious sports cars you will see on the road. From the DB9, to the DBS, both Vanquishes and the Vantage, the DBS Superleggera is no different and so why not have a play on their configurator and have a go!

Aston's are typically cars with understated colours, your silvers, blacks, British racing green and navy blues but I felt a car as stunning as this needed to stand out more. When spec'ing an Aston that is going to cost north of a quarter of a million, I don't want to hide in the background or blend in with the crowd.

The DBS configurator has a great range of paint options to choose from and taking advantage of that, I have plumped for the Golden Saffron paint option, knowing that some adding carbon and gloss black effects would really make the car stand out.

As is customary these days, carbon fibre, and lots of it, is always available and is a popular option to help give contrast to the paintwork. With the darker colours, the need for carbon fibre, outside of the feel of quality, visually doesn't do much.

But for Golden Saffron we can go wild. The front lip, roof, side louvres and the lining from the A to C pillar (roof strake) are all adorned with Gloss Black tinted Twill Carbon Fibre.

The wheels are a lovely minimalistic design with only 10 spokes and the Aston badge in titanium in the centre cap. These wheels are 21" lightweight twinspoke forged alloys in Gloss Black, a look which is definitely "relevant" in 2020.

The only design changes to the rear of the car, were to match the exhaust tips with a gloss black look, which were perfectly with the carbon sported on the rear diffuser, roof and rear spoiler.

As always I am very sparse and lazy with these interiors, maybe, one day if I get the opportunity to spec a car from new I will put more effort but for me the exterior of the car means so much more than the interior. Bizarre given virtually all of the time spent in car is inside not outside...

Anyway here it is my Golden Saffron Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.

What are your thoughts, is the colour too bright for an Aston?

Let us know in the comments section what you would have done and watch this space as we play around with more configurators!
