The Auto Styling Series: The Bengala F12 Caballeria - A Carbon Fibre Masterpiece

Bengala F12 Caballeria, redesigned Ferrari F12 with body panels completed in Carbon Fibre!

At this time of the year, many of us tend to reflect on what the year has brought and what successes we've had. But 2020 has been a weird one, both in the automotive market and just in general. From cancelled auto shows to online reveals, 2020 has definitely been a year of adaptation for the industry. So for today's series, we thought we would take a step back and look at an aftermarket supercar redesign from the past.

Heading back to 2016, the newest edition in the Auto Styling Series is a Spanish take on the Ferrari F12, the Bengala F12 Caballeria.

At The Crbn Fbre Comp we are all about Carbon Fibre and automotive styling that pushes boundaries and uniqueness in design, so of course it makes perfect sense that we cover a redesign where the whole body is made from Carbon Fibre!

Bengala is a design company and tuning house in the mould of the likes of Mansory and Novitec who specialise in modifying some of the world's most high end, luxury supercars and bringing an angle to the market that no one else has. The F12 Caballeria certainly does just that!

The redesign begins with the front bumper where the grills normally seen on the F12 are replaced by a more tightly knit mesh that covers the width of the front of the car. This design is more in tune with the changes on the F12 tdf but much further reaching. The bumper has small but notable side gills, breaking up the consistency and flow down from the bonnet, adding more aggression to the front of the F12. Of course, everything is completed in Carbon Fibre.

The front canards, side skirts are presented in exposed Carbon Fibre whilst the Ferrari badge also sits on a side sill with exposed Carbon Fibre.

The wheels have an amazing style as each of the 15 spokes are perfectly straight, interestingly defined by a circular design surrounding the center cap giving the illusion of bending spokes.

At the rear is where the drastic changes happen. A really aggressive view is created as a diffuser, more sharp and more pronounced than both the regular F12 and tdf versions holds an almost box like creation on both sides of the F1 styled rear brake light cluster. The rear diffuser adds to the menace of the Caballeria with the diffuser protruding out from the rear bumper almost as far out as the rear wing.

The Bengala version is finished off with an integrated rear boot spoiler, similar to the F12 tdf but bigger, taller and more rounded.

The Bengala Caballeria is a purely aesthetic rework, with the interior unchanged and no power upgrades from the regular Ferrari F12. However the extensive, literally extensive use of Carbon Fibre saves approximately 125 - 150kg in weight, naturally creating a faster version of the F12 which already does 0 - 60 in a reported 3.1 seconds. You can imagine what such a significant weight saving will do to that time....

Bengala did not make this as a mass produced program with only 10 or so conversions completed but with such a menacing and distinctive look you have to think there would have been plenty of demand!
