The Auto Styling Series: Aston Martin DB11 Cyrus by Mansory

First blog of the New Year, so Happy New Year to all our readers at The Crbn Fbre Comp and we are wishing you success, health and prosperity in the coming year!

Strange way to start a new year but we thought we'd bring another throwback customisation, this time from Mansory, a controversial but bold tuning house that divides opinion but produces some of the most interesting modifications the market has to offer.

Today we throw ourselves back 4 years and review the Aston Martin DB11 Cyrus by Mansory!

The Aston Martin DB11 was released to the market in 2017 with production starting in 2016. Aston finally provided a successor to the long standing, legendary DB9 which, present in the market for the best part of 10 years, had gone a long way to putting Aston Martin back on the map.

It's fair to say that on release the DB11 didn't match or exceed the class and svelte looks of the DB9 with the rear in particular taking a fair amount of getting used to. In the right colours the DB11 could look mean but put simply lacked the design quality of its predecessor .

Mansory's take on the DB11, in my opinion addresses all these issues. The DB11 Cyrus conversion makes several design adjustments, the front grille becomes much larger and more akin to the DBS Superleggera with the front bumper also changed, amending the position of the air intakes and utilising forged carbon across the front.

The bonnet now has extended and notable air intake/louvres adding aggression that the DB11 lacks in its original design.

The wheels whilst similar in look to the DB11 wheels are ultra light forged 22" in a lovely gloss black colour.

Side skirts are changed, now in forged carbon and with a visible, vertical lip just behind the door shut. The colour scheme of this car is bold but the silver roof and distinctive almost chrome green paintwork really help the car to stand out amongst the forged carbon highlights.

The major changes to the rear are the addition of the rear decklid spoiler, helping to raise the height of the boot and with the spoiler in line with the tail lights, significantly alters the softness of the DB11's rear.

The Rear Diffuser is completely changed, hanging much lower than the DB11's original design with aggressive slats side by side to a new integrated rear brake light cluster. The diffuser now stretches much wider and houses the new exhaust system with 4 exhaust exits, 2 more from the original. The Diffuser sits lower and wider and helps to lower the stance of the car and add a level of intimidation missing from the original.

The DB11 Cyrus doesn't just stop there with the changes as the wing mirrors are revised in forged carbon alongside alternative interior options and a new sports exhaust to complete the transformation.

Mansory is like marmite to some, the designs are brave with plenty of daring choices but here it's hard to argue that they got the DB11 Cyrus wrong. The customisation from Mansory makes the DB11 look aggressive, menacing and much more like a super sports car or supercar compared to Aston's original design. The DB11 Cyrus looks more like the DBS Superleggera albeit before that V12 beast was released and that I think says a lot about the work that Mansory have done. After all, no one complained about the way that car looked...
